DAY 1:
Arrived at camp this morning, it was a bit chilly in the shade. What spectacular country in the foothills of the Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness.
I felt a little hesitation before I got here, wondering if I could do this.
Eight guide students and another cook student showed up over the next hour or so.
I felt relieved when I discovered they also felt a bit jittery about starting something new, just like me.
When everybody arrived, Cody went over the rules and what is expected of all of us. Then we took a camp tour.
LeRee explained that in the four week cook school we'll spend the first few days learning basics about horses and riding with the guide students.
Makes sense because the cook has to get to camp before they can begin cooking.
The rest of that day we learned about identifying horses by their markings and horse terminology.
Now if somebody tells me I'm riding the sorrel with white stockings and a diamond on its face, I know which animal they're talking about.
